Art Studio at the Farm’s small classes are for adults who want to learn drawing and painting or improve current skills in a friendly and supportive environment. All ability levels are welcome.
- Work in the lovely old farmhouse, on the big porch, or about the farm
- Improve your knowledge with demonstrations and critiques
- Use a variety of tools and techniques for still life, landscape, figure, or imagination

Being able to draw and paint realistic portraits is not a gift. It is the result of education, observation, and work. Please join me for a talk and demonstration on Saturday, April 20. I will discuss what goes into good portraiture and demonstrate my 3-step process and useful techniques for creating successful self portraits in oils. I hope to see you there!

Drawing for All Levels with Mara Levin (NIGHT CLASS)
All levels are welcome!
Learn to draw or brush up and fine tune your drawing and compositional skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Experiment with various tools including graphite, charcoal, conte crayon, markers, and ink. Topics will include contour line, perspective, tonal gradation, shading and contrast. Students may accelerate their learning with optional homework projects.
The basic supplies for this drawing class are Tier 1 and Tier 2 below. If you are advanced, please bring your favorite tools and work surfaces to class. Advanced students will have the option of working more independently and may follow along with lessons if these choose.
Tier 1 Supplies*
- HB pencil and sharpener
- One or more soft drawing pencils, 2B – 6B, or mechanical lead holder with 2 mm leads
- Graphite stick(s)
- Canson XL Mix Media paper pad, 11” x 14”, 14” x 17”, or larger
- Kneaded eraser
- SpectraFix or other spray fixative
*Please bring Tier 1 supplies to the first class
Tier 2 Supplies
- Charcoal pencil(s)
- Black compressed and vine charcoal
- 2nd kneaded eraser
- Black and white Conté crayon sticks, leads, or pencils (optional: red, brown)
- Artist’s chamois or rag
